Presention

I just presented my 20% project last Friday.  Overall i think i did pretty well. There was a few things i failed to talk about but it was just because i was a bit nervous.  The website was a fail but not the main goal.  The main goal was to show art work from students all over the district and i'm doing that by using instagram. A few days ago I had a friend asking me if i can paint something for a friend of his.  He asked me because he had seen a post on the instagram account and so referred him to a friend of mine and now he will be earning 30 bucks to paint something.  I think the pg could lead to some business and allow artist to make a little bit of cash. I'm hoping to make speed drawing videos sometime in the near future.  Im gonna have a lot of free time over summer so might as well make good use of the time.

i just realized the website will fail.

Something hit me this week.  I just realized that the website is gonna fail.  I learned from being in my english class that no one is going to be checking the site other than very few people.  My English teacher, Mr. Lee, created a website to benefit his students but they rarely used it.  Since the realization, i'm starting to post more on the instagram page because its more mainstream and people are constantly on their phones checking.  It's way easier to get the project out there and it sucks that i realized this later.  However, i have a week until i present, so lets see what happens.  It seems it would have been way easier to show work through instagram than creating a site that no one will visit.

So go log into you instagram accounts and follow @anaheimart ;)
Dont forget to tag and send me your amazing artwork.

Week 9 District Art Show

This week i attended our district art show.  It was really cool to see some of the best artwork in the district.  Unfortunately i was unable to enter the show because i gave all my pieces away.  #sadface.   The art show is being held at the Muzeo in Anaheim,CA.  If anyone is able to attend feel free to do so.  Some of the work was really incredible and i was amazed.  We have talented students here in the AUHSD.  Im going to attend again and take pictures of their work and post them on the instagram.  The first time i went my phone died so i was unable to share the amazing work.

Make a smile

This week i made someone smile.  Simply because i had handed them a doodle of a flower that i had drawn in one of my classes.  it brightened my day just cuz of the fact that made someone smile.  That day was a good day. Nothing bad had gone wrong and everything seemed to be perfect.  If you can make someone smile than your day will automatically become better.  The feeling of making someone smile is incomparable.  If you ever come across the chance of making someone smile take it!  You won't regret it.

Michelangelo

For about the past two weeks my art class has been recreating famous paintings but with changes.  The students have been getting really creative with the changes they made.  People created paintings from Michelangelo, Edward Hopper, Leonardo Da Vinci, ect.  Our projects are due today,  and everyone's came out amazing.  Unfortunately i haven't had a chance to upload their work because most of the students are building portfolios for colleges they want to attend.  Two of the seniors that i know of are planning on attending Art Institutes.   Its hard to believe how amazing their work is,  seeing their work only inspires me too try harder and become a better artist.  I applaud them.  I attempted to recreate the image of God and Michelangelo, but unfortunately it didn't come out as good as i had hoped.  It was more of a time problem.  I ended up rushing my project and left out detail to the painting which is a really bad idea.  I should have had it unfinished, turn it in, get it back and work on it and add the detail it needed so i could earn a better grade, and a better result.

This was the original resource i worked from,  if i had done a better job i would have posted my recreation of it :(

Week 9

I recently got an idea to add to the student work that I've been receiving.  I'm going to be visiting all the campuses in the district and take pictures of murals that students have done at their schools.  A lot of the murals at savanna have been done by students over the years and a lot of them are really great. I believe that a wall on every quad has a mural.  Going off topic, there is an idea that i heard at an RSVP meeting i recently attended.  As part of school spirit Each class for example class of 2014, 2015, etc, should have a day where each class gets to decorate the school.  I really liked that idea and hopefully we can put it into action next year. It would be interesting too see what people will come up with.  With some unfortunate news, Katella doesn't really seem to have any murals at their school.  Hopefully that can be changed soon.  I know for a fact that students at Katella are really talented and their work seems to go unnoticed.

The image below is part of a mural next to our art room.  Each year our Ap students add something the mural.

Week 8

This week i received some pieces from Katella high school.  I got in touch with a friend of mine from katella and got some of her friends are in the art classes/programs at their school.  They e-mailed me some of their work and i will be putting a lot of work onto the site soon.
I was doing some research and found out that there are three art galleries in Orange County.  The OC Art Walk.  They are held in Laguna Beach, Fullerton, and in Santa Ana.  I recommend attending one of these art walks and get the chance to see some really great work from talented artists from around the county.  If you are interested in going, visit the OC Art Walk site.
